Howard Zavell

There’s a reason why this law firm is rated so low. I agree with all the bad reviews. I feel that these lawyers are incompetent and lack morals.

THIS LAW FIRM IS UNETHICAL! Read all the bad reviews. Our association uses them, and it's been a complete disaster. Find another firm; Dickler, Kahn, Slowikowski, and Zavell has no integrity.

I have been extremely pleased with the services of both Howard Zavell and Jim Slowikowski. Howard especially made dealing with a difficult situation bearable...he was very consultative and proactive throughout the process. I felt listened to and respected--a very different experience than the one I had with another law firm. Howard makes himself readily available and treats his clients with honesty and genuine care. Highly recommend Howard Zavell.

Edit Oct 16, 2025 The lawsuit stated in reply has nothing to do with the review. It was over a contractor violating a contract. The hoa had to have 2 different contractors work on my home and multiple inspections, so the case was not merely dismissed on prejudice. The property manager was found to have not properly counted our votes per the bylaws by IDFPR. I'm not doing this because I'm disgruntled. I'm stating the truth. I have the documents. Be careful if your hoa is looking to hire this firm. All the 1 star reviews can't be wrong. End of edit I could not agree more with the 1 star reviews. Be concerned if your HOA hired them. They told our board they didn't have to count our cumulative votes because we haven't exercised that law in over 40 years. How ridiculous! We didn't need to until we had a self serving president. They came up with lame excuses and definitions for cumulative. There's one definition. We now have a board president that was not duly elected and complaints were filed with the IDFPR. They need to be held accountable. The next year they did an illegal bylaw change, changing the way votes are counted without a homeowner vote. Told us they were clarifying cumulative (????) They bullied and tried to intimidate homeowners with ridiculous cease and desist letters telling us we couldn't talk about what is happening with our property and board. They tried to order me out of my home during the winter and pandemic when a contractor came to work on MY home. They need to be disciplined for all the illegal advice they give, in my opinion. Know your rights and take action.

Jim Slowikowski is a God Send doe advise for our HOA. We are so glad that we have him on retainer.
