Extremely Disappointing Experience with Prairie State Legal Services I have never felt so dismissed, disrespected, or unsupported by an organization that is supposed to provide legal assistance to people who need it. After my experience with my attorney, Pilar, and her manager, Megan, I left their office feeling completely unheard and questioning how this organization treats clients who are already dealing with extremely stressful legal situations. Despite knowing well in advance that I would be out of town, my attorney moved forward with scheduling an earlier court date that directly conflicts with my travel arrangements. My repeated concerns about my case, court scheduling, and the handling of important legal matters have left me feeling that my safety and well-being are not being taken seriously. When I visited the office to seek answers and accountability, Megan repeatedly responded that she understood my frustration without actually addressing my questions or providing meaningful solutions. I also requested contact information for someone above her so I could escalate my concerns, but she refused to provide it. What I found particularly disturbing was that the situation escalated to the point where Megan appeared ready to call 911 rather than address my concerns. I came to the office seeking answers about my legal representation, not to be treated as though asking difficult questions was a problem. I believe both Pilar and Megan have demonstrated a serious lack of communication, accountability, and compassion in handling my situation. People seeking legal assistance may already be dealing with trauma, safety concerns, financial difficulties, and significant emotional distress. They deserve clear communication, professionalism, and attorneys who take their concerns seriously. I am extremely disappointed in Prairie State Legal Services. I left feeling that my concerns were dismissed, my questions remained unanswered, and my attempts to advocate for myself were treated as an inconvenience. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this organization to ask detailed questions about communication, attorney accountability, case management, and the process for escalating complaints before accepting representation. My experience has been unacceptable, and I intend to pursue my concerns through the appropriate channels.
