Columbia Sportswear checks military status through ID.me, from the Apply Promo Code or ID.me Discount drawer in the columbia.com bag.
- Accepted proof
- Columbia does not list documents. It links ID.me's military eligibility list, and ID.me sets the proof for each group. ID.me lists the DD214, VA eligibility letters, the VHIC, the VIC and a state ID with a veteran mark as veteran proof. ID.me does not accept uploads of a Common Access Card or Uniformed Services ID card.DD214: your discharge papers from active duty. VHIC: the VA health ID card. VIC: the VA's Veteran ID Card.
- How long it takes
- Not stated by Columbia. Confirm your email address if ID.me asks, and the discount then applies to your purchase.
- At the register
- Columbia's offer terms say you must present ID verifying eligibility but do not describe a register discount at regular stores. Its Employee Stores ask for proof of affiliation at check-in.
- Without a smartphone
- Verify with ID.me in the columbia.com bag from a computer.
- Recently separated
- Columbia lists veterans and states no time limit after separation. If ID.me cannot match your service record, its document route accepts a DD214 or another listed document.
- Privacy
- You verify with ID.me, not with Columbia. Columbia's Customer Care cannot sign in to your ID.me account for you. Never send service documents to Claim Raven.
- Verifying again
- Sign in to ID.me when you shop so the discount applies. Columbia does not say how often you must verify again.
