Can my VSO or family member see my Claim Raven account?
No. A VSO, representative, family member, or other supporter does not automatically see your Claim Raven veteran account, and you should not give anyone your Claim Raven, VA.gov, Login.gov, or ID.me password or security code. A VA appointment and Claim Raven access are separate. If Claim Raven shows a current representative invitation, sign in to your own account, verify who sent it, and choose only the listed information you want to share; that limited connection may not be available in every environment and does not expose the rest of your account. Family and other supporters can contribute through a specific buddy-letter invitation or receive a copy you intentionally export without using your login.
Overview
Do not share an account or security code A trusted person can help you read a screen without signing in as you. Keep Claim Raven, VA.gov, Login.gov, ID.me, email, and device-unlock credentials private. VA's current privacy guidance says not to divulge a VA.gov password or share the device used for the additional authentication factor.
Different roles do not create the same access
A family member, friend, caregiver, or other supporter has no automatic Claim Raven account access. A relationship alone does not create a co-user role or permission to act as you. Appointing a VA-accredited VSO representative, attorney, or claims agent gives the representative authority under the VA appointment and portal process. It does not give them your Claim Raven password or automatically connect them to Claim Raven. Optional VA connected-app authorization is permission for the listed app data. It is not permission for a person to use your VA.gov or Claim Raven account. A Claim Raven practitioner or representative connection, if genuinely offered, uses separate accounts, a specific invitation, and the sharing choices shown on the consent screen. It is not whole-account access.
Let a family member or supporter help without your login
Choose the narrow task Decide whether the person is helping you read, reviewing a document you selected, or contributing their own firsthand statement. Do not expose the rest of the account simply because one task is easier together. Stay signed in yourself If someone sits with you, keep control of the keyboard and review every upload, permission, claim action, and download. Do not save credentials in a shared browser or give the person your multifactor device. Use a purpose-specific invitation when available A buddy-letter invitation lets a supporter write and submit their own observations through the invitation link without entering the veteran's Claim Raven account. The link is for that task only and should not be forwarded to another person. Share an export intentionally If you download a document to discuss, inspect every page, remove information the recipient does not need, choose a secure delivery method, and keep your original. An export does not give live account access and does not prove a VA submission occurred.
Work with a VSO or accredited representative separately
Verify the individual and organization through VA's current accredited-representative resources before sharing claim information. Use VA's current appointment process when you choose representation. A Claim Raven invitation is not a VA Form 21-22 or 21-22a, proof of accreditation, or an appointment. Ask the representative which specific records they need and which secure channel their organization uses. Do not send passwords, security codes, access tokens, or unrestricted account access. A representative should use their own authorized VA or Claim Raven account. The veteran should use their own Claim Raven account and approve only the intended sharing.
If Claim Raven shows a representative invitation
Verify the request outside the link Confirm the representative's name and the expected client-file label through contact information you already trust. If the request is unexpected, expired, altered, or asks for credentials, stop and contact the representative separately. Sign in to your own account The current connection model binds the invitation to the veteran's own Claim Raven account. Do not let the representative sign in as you or create an account in your name. Read every sharing choice The checked implementation offers separate choices for a VA Data Bridge snapshot and intake answers, with neither permission required merely to view the request. Rely on the exact live permission screen because available choices can change. Decline or disconnect when needed You can decline an unexpected request. When the feature is enabled and a connection is active, the current dashboard provides controls to change the listed permissions or disconnect. VA appointment and any records already lawfully held by the representative remain separate matters. The connection may not be available Representative linking is controlled by the deployed Claim Raven environment and is off by default in the checked source. Do not expect a connection button, create a substitute shared login, or trust a lookalike invitation. Use only a real Claim Raven screen that identifies the request and lets you choose permissions.
If you already shared credentials
Stop sending credentials or codes and sign out of any shared device you can still access. Use the corresponding official password-reset or recovery path for Claim Raven, VA.gov, Login.gov, ID.me, or the email account involved. Do not reuse the exposed password elsewhere. Review VA.gov connected apps and disconnect access you no longer want. Disconnecting stops new VA data access but may not delete information already stored by an app. Contact Claim Raven support with the account email, approximate time, and a non-sensitive description of the concern. Do not include a password, code, token, VA identifier, claim record, medical detail, or unredacted screenshot.
