Who should I ask for a buddy letter?
Ask only a person who has relevant firsthand observations and is willing to write in their own words. Relationship labels alone do not determine usefulness, credibility, or evidence weight.
How many buddy letters should I get?
There is no software-selected number of buddy statements. Favor relevant, firsthand, non-duplicative observations and follow the needs of the actual issue rather than collecting a quota.
How do I know if my supporter wrote their letter?
Buddy-request tracking shows product delivery and response state only. It does not prove the recipient saw the message, finished a legally sufficient statement, or that VA received anything.
Send Request
Send a bounded invitation for the intended condition or event, confirm the recipient and contact information, and avoid placing sensitive claim details in the message subject or ordinary support channels.
Track Requests
Use request status to follow invitations and responses, then review each returned statement with the writer. Never change the writer's meaning or represent an invitation status as evidence acceptance.
