Notifications & alerts
Manage conditional SMS and email notifications, understand what is currently available, and keep VA.gov and every VA notice as the authoritative record.
Claim Status Alerts in Claim Raven
Claim Raven has settings for SMS and email notifications, but a visible preference does not mean that every listed alert type is active or that a message will be delivered. Availability may depend on the specific notification producer, the data available to Claim Raven, your preferences, contact verification, provider configuration, route-specific access or usage limits, and delivery conditions outside Claim Raven's control. Check VA.gov and every VA notice directly; never wait for a Claim Raven alert before protecting a date or completing a required action.
Not Getting SMS Alerts? Check Availability First
A missing text does not always mean your phone is misconfigured. Claim Raven must first have an active producer for the specific event, then your SMS setting, verified U.S. number, provider connection, consent status, and any action-specific access or usage limit must allow an attempt. The checked product does not currently have a general producer for claim phase, decision, rating, payment, exam, hearing, or weekly-summary texts. Check VA.gov and every VA notice directly; never wait for an SMS before protecting a date or completing a required action.
Which Phone Numbers Can Receive Claim Raven SMS?
Claim Raven's current setup accepts a U.S. phone number in +1 format and requires the SMS provider to be configured, but that does not guarantee delivery to every U.S. carrier, plan, device, or destination. Carrier filtering, sender registration, roaming, blocked senders, consent state, device availability, and the specific event producer can all affect whether a text is attempted or received. Do not use a carrier name alone as proof that Claim Raven SMS will work.
Email or SMS Alerts: Choose a Backup, Not a Deadline System
Claim Raven has separate email and SMS settings, so an account may be able to enable one channel, the other, or both. But a visible toggle does not mean every event is produced, that the same access or usage rule applies to every route, or that either provider will deliver a message. Choose the channel you can protect and monitor, then keep VA.gov, complete VA notices, and an independent calendar as the real status and deadline system.
What Information Can Appear in Claim Raven Alerts?
Treat Claim Raven SMS and email previews as potentially sensitive. Current narrow notification templates can include Claim Raven account context, a filename, submission GUID, claim ID, condition or research topic, deadline title, date, or status detail depending on the event. The checked templates do not intentionally place a Social Security number or full medical record in a message, but a filename, condition title, or user-entered label can still reveal personal information. Use a private phone and inbox, limit previews, and never forward an alert or verification code to ordinary support.
