Appeal Tracking in Claim Raven
Do not treat Claim Raven as the official or necessarily current record of a Supplemental Claim, Higher-Level Review, Board Appeal, or legacy appeal. Live VA appeal sync is not generally available in the checked Claim Raven configuration. The Appeals tab may show a dated VA Data Bridge snapshot or other stored information, but those views do not confirm that VA received a filing, changed a status, scheduled a hearing, assigned a docket position, or set a deadline. Check VA.gov's official status tool and the VA notice or letter that applies to your case before acting.
Overview
VA.gov and your VA notice control If a date, status, evidence request, hearing, docket event, receipt, or required action matters, read the exact VA notice and confirm the current record through VA.gov or an official VA contact. A missing, old, or conflicting Claim Raven entry does not pause or extend a deadline.
Know what each Claim Raven display source means
Live VA appeal data: This is conditional on the current Claim Raven environment and VA authorization. The checked production default disables the feed. Even when a screen identifies a successful live source, verify consequential details on VA.gov and in the notice. VA Data Bridge: This is a snapshot you chose to import at a particular time. It does not update itself or prove what VA recorded after the capture time. Other stored dashboard information: Treat anything not identified as current VA data as a working copy. Check its source and date before using it. No displayed appeal: An empty Appeals tab does not prove that VA has no decision review or appeal for you.
Check the official status before you act
Open VA's status tool directly Sign in through VA.gov's claim, decision review, or appeal status page. Use the notice's instructions for a benefit type that the online tool does not cover. Match the exact matter Compare the review or appeal type, issues, notice date, latest status, and any action VA says is required. Do not assume two similar issue names refer to the same review stream. Read the newest notice or letter The notice can contain a deadline, address, evidence rule, hearing information, or route that a short status label does not show. Preserve the complete document. Keep proof of what you sent Save the submitted form, evidence list, confirmation page, transmission receipt, tracking record, and date. A Claim Raven card is not a VA receipt. Resolve a mismatch through an official channel If VA.gov, a letter, and your records disagree, contact VA through the current official options or work with a VA-accredited representative. Keep notes of the date, channel, and response.
What Claim Raven does not establish
That VA received or accepted a Supplemental Claim, Higher-Level Review, Board Appeal, legacy appeal filing, form, or evidence. That a displayed status is complete, current, or the only status VA has recorded. The deadline that applies to a decision, review request, evidence window, hearing, or court appeal. Which decision review or appeal lane is right for a particular issue. A guaranteed docket position, hearing date, completion date, outcome, or next action. That an imported or saved item changed VA's official record.
Use the Appeals tab as a dated organizer
Record the source and capture time shown for an imported item. Keep VA notices, decision letters, filing confirmations, and evidence receipts outside the status card. Verify a status on VA.gov before changing your evidence plan, missing a requested action, or waiting past a date in a notice. Do not assume appeal, hearing, or docket alerts are active. The checked product disables those preferences when live appeal sync is unavailable. Do not enter a made-up appeal merely to make the dashboard look complete. Preserve uncertainty and use the official record. Missing in Claim Raven is not missing at VA An appeal can be absent because live access is unavailable, an import is old, the official tool does not cover that benefit type, or the displayed source is incomplete. Check VA.gov and the notice before drawing a conclusion.
Do not choose a review lane from a status card
Supplemental Claims, Higher-Level Reviews, Board Appeals, legacy appeals, and court appeals have different evidence and procedure rules. A status card cannot select the correct lane or calculate the time available. Start with the exact decision notice, use current VA instructions, and seek VA-accredited help if you want individual assistance.
If the Appeals tab does not match your records
If the Appeals tab does not match your records The page says live appeal tracking is coming soon or unavailable. Open VA.gov's official claim, decision review, or appeal status tool. Read the newest VA notice for the official route and any required action. Do not wait for Claim Raven to enable a feed before protecting a date. Use Claim Raven only for organization and education while live appeal access remains unavailable. A VA Data Bridge appeal has an old capture time. Treat the card as a historical snapshot. Check VA.gov for the current status. Use a new import only if the current VA Data Bridge flow offers it and you choose to proceed. Do not edit the old date to make the snapshot appear current; preserve its provenance and rely on VA for the latest record. Claim Raven and VA.gov show different information. Capture the source and timestamp of each view without exposing unnecessary identifiers. Compare the exact issue and review type. Check the newest VA notice and contact VA or an accredited representative if the conflict matters. Treat VA.gov and the controlling VA notice as authoritative; keep the Claim Raven view only as dated comparison evidence. I received a paper or electronic notice that is not shown online. Read every page of the notice and preserve the envelope or electronic delivery date when relevant. Follow the notice's stated route and deadline unless VA provides a corrected instruction. Ask VA or an accredited representative about the mismatch instead of waiting for a dashboard update. A missing online item does not cancel the notice or its required action. For Claim Raven display problems, contact support with a non-sensitive description, page name, approximate time, and browser. Do not send a password, multifactor code, VA identifier, decision letter, medical record, or unredacted screenshot.
